Dogs for our Brave provides a professionally trained service dog, dog food, veterinary care, and pharmaceuticals for the life of the dog FREE of cost to the veteran.
OUR PARTNER: DOGS FOR OUR BRAVE
In May of 2013, Founder Andy Gladstein struck up a conversation with a man and his wife in Coronado, California. The man was a Navy seal who had been deployed 28 times.Shortly after their first meeting, Andy and his Navy Seal friend were discussing what he should gift his wife for their upcoming anniversary. His friend suggested he buy a dog; have it trained and give it to a soldier that came back from war without limbs. As a result, Gabby, a rescued mixed breed dog, was the first dog to begin training in mid-2013 and in 2014 she was placed with Chris. What started as a one-time gift idea turned into an organization that selects and matches dogs with a veteran who is then trained as a service dog, free of cost to the veteran. Their Mission: To provide professionally trained service dogs at no cost to veterans who have suffered debilitating injury or illness while in service to our country. Their goal is to use rescue dogs at every opportunity, thus saving two lives at once.

Hager has now found a forever veteran named Will! Hager has worked longless hours to get to where he is today. Here he shows off some of the skills he is capable of which includes turning on and off the lights, opening the refridgerator while grabbing a bottle of water, and so many more! He will continue to work endlessly to help his veteran on everyday tasks and duties. We are beyond proud of you Hager!
WELCOME!
OCTOBER
Welcome to your first pup-month🐾! October 28th, the Hager family met with Christina, the Executive Director, and Paul, Head Trainer, from Dogs for our Brave. During this meeting, we presented them with our gift that will cover the cost of professionally training one new service dog.Although the dog we are sponsoring hasn’t been selected, they brought Diesel, one of their service dogs in training, with them. Diesel was happy to accept our check!

IT'S A BOY!
JANUARY
We know the gender of the service dog, Hager Companies is sponsoring through Dogs for our Brave. We’re fur-sure, it’s a boy! We can’t wait to learn even more about this fur-bulous dog and share it with all of you.
MEET HAGER!
JANUARY
We are so excited to share with you our service dog we are sponsoring through Dogs for our Brave. Meet Hager! Hager is a 12-week-old black lab. He was rescued from a family who could no longer care for him properly. He is now in the care of Dogs for our Brave, who will train him to become a certified service dog. At the end of his 18-month training, he will find his fur-ever home with a lucky veteran.

HELLO HAGER
FEBRUARY
Our service dog in training visited our office for the first time today. Hager experienced a few other firsts today: walking down a big set of stairs and riding in an elevator. We are excited to see the further development of his training and skills.

MARCH
Today, Hager showed off some of his skills and introduced us to his dog friend, Jay, whose also being trained to be a service dog with Dogs for our Brave. Jay was a sweetheart just like Hager! We loved having them both.
MEET HIS FRIEND!
APRIL
This month Hager visited us with his dog friend, Sasha, whose also being trained to be a service dog with Dogs for our Brave. Sasha is further along in the program and showed us how much Hager will be able to learn. We are excited to see his skills continue to progress!
SKILLSETS
MAY
Today, Hager displayed his increasing skillset during his office visit. He is currently learning how to retrieve and send objects, open a fridge door, and work with a wheelchair.
SAY HELLO TO NALA
JUNE
Hager visited us along with his dog friend, Nala, whose also being trained to be a service dog with Dogs for our Brave. Hager has grown so much since his last visit and is continuously progressing in his skillset.
PLAY BALL!
JULY
Hager brought smiles to the office today. He is learning to pick up a cane for his veteran and open a refrigerator door to retrieve a bottle of water. He also played with his ball and enjoyed all the attention!
